Amazon Japan is selling Uber Eats backpacks, and they're incredibly useful

2021-05-24
Food delivery company Uber Eats has been serving people in Tokyo and other major Japanese cities for years, but has recently expanded to the farthest reaches of Japan, with mostly rural prefectures such as Rotoshima and Oita finally able to access their services. Favorite food delivered to their doorstep. In fact, Uber Eats drivers are everywhere (or, in Japan, more so cyclists) thanks to a special item they carry with them that makes them instantly recognizable from a distance. their backpacks. So when Japanese journalist Seiji Nakazawa was surprised to find these bags for sale on Amazon for 4,000 yen (approximately $38 USD). A few days later, a large box arrived at SoraNews24 HQ. When he opened the box, Seiji was a little confused. Didn’t he order an Uber Eats tote bag? Isn’t that what Uber Eats bags look like? Aren't they... healthier? Did he accidentally order something else? But as he unfolded it, it became obvious. It's an Uber Eats tote bag that's instantly recognizable with its signature white and green lettering. Seiji found his first surprise here - the bag didn't come with any assembly instructions, but had a bunch of wooden boards with letters on it. The letters on the board correspond to the letters on the bag. Seiji figured that if he matched them with the inner walls, the bag would start to take shape. But how do you hold the board in place? There is a piece of Velcro attached to the side of the bag, but it doesn't seem to stick to the board at all. How will Seiji stop the board from falling the second he removes his hand? But that still doesn't explain the purpose of Velcro. While Seiji was pondering the reason for its existence, he found an aluminum plate with some Velcro attached to it. Could it be...? While that's all well and good, if there's something fairly heavy on top, surely that extra layer will crumble away? It didn't seem to budge when Seiji pushed it with his hand, but further testing was needed, so he popped a 500ml (16.9oz) plastic bottle on top. Will it hold the weight? Seiji has been looking for the perfect bag to bring his bento lunches to the office, and the more he tested the Uber Eats bags, the more convinced he became – this is the perfect bag for him! However, when he tried to show off to other SoraNews24 reporters, Seiji felt as if something was missing. What could it be? He thought his bag was fully assembled – after all, he had used up all the planks! There's just something...yet. It feels incomplete. As he was contemplating what the missing item might be, his colleague Go Hatori showed up, fresh from his recent visit to a 100 yen store. In the past, Go often worked odd jobs at a soba restaurant and was an expert at delivering food, so maybe he could find the lost item Seiji was looking for. With a well-trained eye from years in the food industry, Go immediately spotted a hidden zipper at the bottom of the bag. There could be something inside! ? no way! What Seiji assumes is just another small pocket is actually an extension of the bag! By popping it open, the actual bag itself widens so you can fit more food in it, such as a box of pizza. amazing! Seiji decided to take the bag (filled with two liters of water of course) out for a spin. For some reason, Seiji felt like he wasn't carrying two liters of water on his back. It feels light, probably thanks to the padding on the back. Check out our Uber Eats luggage unboxing video below to see Seiji's true excitement as he searches for all the hidden compartments. Most people are familiar with the outside of the bag, but to us, the inner workings of the Uber Eats bag have been a mystery... until now. Seiji was surprised by how practical and functional this bag is. The 4,000 yen he dropped was well worth it. Even those unfamiliar with Uber Eats may want to pick up a bag for a barbecue or picnic. You can get your own Uber Eats bag here, and while you're waiting for it to arrive, place a few Uber Eats orders to see the bag in action! If you're not hungry, don't worry, just smile!
